Guwahati, Oct. 26 -- At least four people were shot dead and several others reportedly injured after unidentified gunmen opened fire at a hotel in the Bora Service area along GS Road in Guwahati on Monday evening.

The shooting occurred at Hotel Bilas Inn, triggering panic in the busy locality as the attackers reportedly opened fire on a group of people inside the hotel premises and in a narrow lane adjacent to the establishment.

Guwahati Police Commissioner Partha Sarathi Mahanta confirmed that police had recovered four bodies from the scene. Several others, including hotel staff and two women, sustained injuries and were rushed to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for treatment.
