Guwahati, Aug. 17 -- Former MLA and former Chief Executive Member of the North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) Samarjit Haflongbar has submitted a representation to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, seeking a review of the proposed recognition of Karbi people living in the plain districts of Assam under the Scheduled Tribe (Hills) [ST(H)] category.

Haflongbar said the proposal has constitutional, demographic and reservation-related implications for the existing ST(H) population of the Sixth Schedule hill districts.
