Assam: Former Congress minister Siddique Ahmed dies at 64
Guwahati, Sept. 13 -- Former Assam minister and Congress leader Siddique Ahmed died at his residence in Baraigram, Karimganj district, at the age of 64 following a prolonged battle with cancer.
Ahmed had been undergoing treatment for cancer for an extended period before he passed away at his residence.
Born on October 1, 1962, Ahmed represented the Karimganj South Assembly constituency for several terms. He made his electoral debut in 2001 as a Samata Party candidate and won the seat. He contested as an Independent in 2006 before joining the Congress and securing victories from the constituency in 2011 and 2021.
