Guwahati, Aug. 8 -- Assam's flood situation remained critical on Thursday, with the death toll rising to 98, even as the number of affected districts and people declined, according to the latest bulletin issued by the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA).

The latest flood-related death was reported from the Mahmora revenue circle in Charaideo district.

The number of affected districts dropped from 15 on Thursday to 13 on Friday, while the affected population declined from over 1.68 lakh to 1,55,849.
