Assam: Flood death toll rises to 41 after 10 more fatalities in 24 hours
Guwahati, July 23 -- Assam's flood situation remained alarming on Wednesday, with 10 more flood-related deaths reported during the past 24 hours, taking the state's overall death toll to 41.
According to the latest flood bulletin issued by the authorities, Sivasagar and Jorhat recorded three deaths each, while Charaideo reported two fatalities. Dhemaji and Karbi Anglong accounted for one death each.
Floodwaters continue to wreak havoc across 11 districts: Karbi Anglong, Golaghat, Charaideo, Kamrup, Jorhat, Dibrugarh, Nagaon, Dhemaji, Hojai, Kamrup (Metropolitan), and Sivasagar. The floods have inundated 939 villages spread across 40 revenue circles, affecting 6,40,129 people statewide.
