Guwahati, Aug. 11 -- Classes in flood-affected schools across Sivasagar, Nazira and Charaideo are likely to resume after August 15, once floodwaters recede and the campuses are cleaned and restored, Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu said.

Pegu said more than 150 schools in the affected districts are still either submerged or dealing with the impact of floodwaters, mud and silt.

While some school campuses remain under water, others have been left covered with mud and silt as floodwaters recede. The condition of several schools has made it difficult for regular classes to restart immediately.
