Guwahati, Sept. 30 -- Police and local residents seized five firearms and 13 rounds of live ammunition in two separate incidents in Assam's Golaghat and Kamrup districts, with four persons detained in connection with the recoveries.

In Golaghat, police conducted an operation at Chungajan in Sarupathar and seized four pistols along with live ammunition. A youth identified as Rakhal Sheel, reportedly from Dimapur in Nagaland, was detained in connection with the recovery.

According to police, the seized firearms comprised two 7.65 mm pistols and two .22 pistols, along with 13 rounds of live ammunition. A torchlight and a bag containing plastic material were also recovered from his possession.
