Guwahati, Oct. 26 -- Five people were reportedly killed and several others injured in a shooting at Hotel Bilas Inn in the Bora Service area of Guwahati on Monday evening.

At least two women are suspected to be among those killed in the incident. However, the identities of the deceased have not yet been ascertained.

Guwahati Police Commissioner Partha Sarathi Mahanta reached the spot as police personnel and emergency services responded to the incident. Several ambulances were also rushed to the scene.

Speaking to the media, Mahanta described the incident as unfortunate and said that four bodies had been recovered so far. He added that police would apprehend those responsible for the shooting.
