Assam: Female leopard captured in Tingkhong after 18 months of threat to villagers
Guwahati, Aug. 30 -- A large female leopard was captured in a cage at No. 1 Nachani Jokai village in Tingkhong on August 29, bringing temporary relief to residents who have been living under the threat of leopard attacks for nearly 18 months.
According to villagers, leopards have been frequently spotted in the village and surrounding areas for about one-and-a-half years. Several livestock, including cattle and goats, have reportedly been killed during this period, triggering growing concerns over the safety of residents.
To prevent further attacks, local youths placed a cage in the village on Saturday afternoon. Within around 30 minutes, a large female leopard entered the trap and was captured.
