North Lakhimpur, Nov. 6 -- A major eviction drive was carried out in Assam's Lakhimpur district on Friday, with the Revenue Department demolishing a weekly market and other unauthorised structures built on government land in Bihpuria.

The operation at Bihpuria was part of four other eviction drives to be conducted across the district. The other locations included Balijan and Koilamari under North Lakhimpur Revenue Circle, Bogeenadi under Kadam Revenue Circle, and No. 1 Dharmapur under Bihpuria Revenue Circle.

At Dharmapur Saturday Weekly Haat, a demolition team equipped with bulldozers arrived in the morning, accompanied by officials of the Bihpuria Revenue Circle and security personnel.
