Guwahati, Aug. 20 -- Eight persons have been arrested by Assam Police as part of the investigation into a case registered at Guwahati's Hatigaon Police Station as Case No. 172/2026, filed under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.

The accused are Akhtar Hussain (28), Nur Jamal Miya (36), Manuwar Ali (26), Imadul Choudhury (23), Mirjan Ali (27), Majibur Rahman (26), Ajay Ali (21) and Mirajul Ali (21).

Police alleged that the accused assaulted public servants and prevented them from carrying out their official responsibilities.

They were also accused of creating an imminent danger to the lives and safety of police personnel.
