Guwahati, Oct. 22 -- The body of Khargeswar Rabha, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) attached to Assam's Chief Minister's Vigilance Cell, was found in a partially decomposed state inside a hotel room in Bongaigaon on Thursday. The cause of death has not yet been established.

Rabha's body was recovered from Room No. 102 of Hotel Jahnavi Regency, where he had checked in on October 18 during the Durga Puja holidays.

Bongaigaon Senior Superintendent of Police Numal Mahato said investigators were examining the circumstances surrounding the death. He said the possibility of the officer having health issues is also being considered, adding that further details would emerge as the investigation progressed.
