Haflong, July 20 -- In a major breakthrough against drug trafficking, Assam's Dima Hasao Police seized 220.6 grams of suspected heroin and detained three persons during a special operation at New Haflong Railway Station early on Saturday.

According to police sources, the three suspects had arrived at the railway station from Silchar and were preparing to board a Guwahati-bound train.

Acting on specific intelligence, security personnel kept the suspects under surveillance before intercepting and searching them.

During the search, police recovered 220.6 grams of suspected heroin concealed in 18 plastic soap cases specially modified to hide the contraband. Police also seized three mobile phones from the accused.
