Assam: Diju River overflows again, fresh floods hit Nagaon's Amoni Revenue Circle
Guwahati, Aug. 5 -- Heavy rainfall in the Karbi Hills has once again caused the Diju River, which forms the boundary between Assam's Nagaon and Karbi Anglong districts, to overflow, triggering fresh floods in several low-lying areas and worsening the plight of residents still recovering from the previous inundation.
The swollen river has submerged Shiyalekhaiti, Kalapani and several other villages under the Amoni Revenue Circle in Nagaon district. Floodwaters have entered residential areas and agricultural land, disrupting normal life and affecting thousands of people living in the affected localities.
