Dibrugarh: Dibrugarh Police on Saturday busted an extortion racket operating in the name of ULFA-I and arrested three individuals from Assam's Moran.

Acting on information regarding extortion calls and SMS messages received by a doctor, Dibrugarh Police immediately launched an operation led by DSP (HQ) Nayan Moni Barua.

During the investigation, police identified three accused allegedly involved in the extortion attempt: Krishna Moni Chetia, son of Sunit Chetia and a resident of Bahanibari in Khowang; Jintu Gogoi, son of Gunaram Gogoi and a resident of Nohat Mazgaon in Demow; and Sanjay Gogoi, son of Diganta Gogoi and a resident of Muramara Thangaon in Khowang.
