India, March 19 -- Dibrugarh Airport on Thursday achieved a significant operational milestone with the commissioning of its extended runway and upgraded navigational infrastructure, marked by the successful landing of IndiGo flight 6E 893 (Kolkata-Dibrugarh) at 8.38 a.m.
The modernisation project has enhanced the airport's operational capacity and safety standards. The runway has been extended from 1,830 metres to 2,291 metres, enabling the handling of larger aircraft and improving safety margins.
The upgrade also includes the installation of a 900-metre CAT-I approach lighting system, along with modern edge, threshold, and end lights to support safer operations, particularly during night landings.
