Guwahati, May 7 -- Devajit Saikia has resigned from the post of Advocate General of Assam, ending a nearly five-year tenure that involved key constitutional and legal responsibilities.
He submitted his resignation on Wednesday, stating that he was upholding the "high tradition and constitutional practice" of the office. His exit follows the completion of the current government's term under Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
In a statement after stepping down, Saikia said it was a "great honour and privilege" to serve the state in such a significant constitutional role.
