Assam: Congress ends political alliance with Akhil Gogoi-led Raijor Dal
Guwahati, Sept. 3 -- The Congress on September 3 announced the formal termination of its political alliance with the Akhil Gogoi-led Raijor Dal, alleging that the regional party had repeatedly violated the understanding and principles of the opposition grouping.
The decision, effective immediately, was taken on the direction of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president and Lok Sabha Deputy Leader of Opposition Gaurav Gogoi. APCC General Secretary (Organisation) Ramanna Baruah subsequently issued an organisational circular communicating the decision.
