Guwahati, Aug. 15 -- A Facebook account has allegedly threatened to kill Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma during a live online broadcast of his Independence Day address, according to a report.

The account was reportedly operated by a user identified as Abdul Mutaleb, who posted the alleged threat while Sarma's Independence Day programme was being streamed.

The reported post allegedly offered a monetary reward to anyone who carried out the killing and also included pro-Pakistan slogans and remarks against India.

The incident has prompted concern among security agencies, which are reportedly trying to establish the identity of the person behind the account.
