Guwahati, Aug. 1 -- Assam will begin the self-enumeration phase of Census 2027 from August 2, allowing residents to submit their details online for the first time as part of a technology-driven population enumeration exercise. However, the process will not start immediately in two flood-affected districts of Upper Assam due to the prevailing flood situation.

The announcement was made on Saturday by the Directorate of Census Operations during a press conference at Janata Bhawan, where Director of Census Operations Biswajit Pegu outlined the roadmap for the Census and the preparations completed so far.
