Guwahati, July 16 -- The district administration has sealed a private madrasa in Assam's Bongaigaon district and sent all 148 minor girl students back to their families after a preliminary inquiry reportedly found the institution was operating in violation of government regulations.

The action follows allegations that a teacher, identified as Aminul Islam, sexually abused a girl student, triggering protests and vandalism at Ishwaatul Uloom Madrasatul Banat in Malegarh under Jogighopa earlier this week.

Following the unrest, police personnel led by Superintendent of Police Numal Mahatta, accompanied by an Executive Magistrate, visited the madrasa to restore order and oversee the situation.
