Guwahati, April 25 -- A road accident in Assam's Tamulpur district late on Friday night left one Bihu performer dead and eleven others injured.

The incident happened at Naokata on the Tamulpur-Nagrijuli road when members of the Bhaskarjyoti Bihu Husori Team from Haribhanga in Nalbari were travelling to Bangalipara in Tamulpur for Rongali Bihu performances.

Their vehicle collided head-on with a trailer coming from the opposite direction.

Nishamani Haloi, 25, from Niz Jhargaon in Tamulpur district, died at the spot.

Police said the group was travelling in a Traveller vehicle (AS-25-DC-5893) and carrying about 30 performers when the crash took place. The trailer involved in the collision bore registration number PB 03 AP 6681.
