Guwahati, May 16 -- Athena Behavioral Health has announced the launch of the largest integrated private psychiatric hospital in Northeast India, marking its expansion to five hospitals across the country.

The launch coincides with Mental Health Awareness Month and comes at a time when the region is witnessing increasing concern over mental health challenges. Citing the National Mental Health Survey (NMHS), the organisation noted that nearly 8% of Assam's population-around one in 12 people faces mental health morbidity.

Studies in the region have also indicated rising cases of depression, anxiety, substance use disorders and suicide-related distress, along with a shortage of structured psychiatric and de-addiction facilities.
