Assam: Armyworm attacks 435 hectares of paddy fields in Sivasagar after floods
Guwahati, Sept. 9 -- Armyworm attacks have affected around 435 hectares of paddy-growing land in Assam's Sivasagar district, adding to the difficulties faced by farmers after the recent floods.
Agricultural officials have found the pest in several parts of the district, including Nitaipukhuri, Maharani, Namti Pathar and Jerenga Pathar.
Amguri has also reported infestations in different locations, while parts of Nazira and Dhupabor have been affected as well.
The pest attack comes as farmers are still dealing with the consequences of the flooding, raising the possibility of further crop losses.
