Doomdooma, Aug. 18 -- The Doomdooma regional unit of the Assam Jatiyatabadi Yuva-Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) on Tuesday urged the Assam government to upgrade the 30-bed Doomdooma First Referral Unit (FRU) into a full-fledged co-district hospital, citing the growing healthcare needs of the region.

The organisation submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Health Minister through the Doomdooma co-district Commissioner, seeking government intervention to strengthen healthcare infrastructure in the area.

According to the AJYCP, the Doomdooma FRU has assumed greater importance as residents of Doomdooma, Digboi, Sadiya and Makum Assembly constituencies depend on the facility for medical services.
