India, March 5 -- The All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) is facing renewed internal unrest in Assam following the exit of Zakir Hussain Laskar, the MLA representing Hailakandi.
Laskar's resignation comes amid rising political pressure within the party as the state prepares for upcoming elections.
The lawmaker has not publicly explained his reasons for leaving, but his departure coincides with ongoing disciplinary actions against two other party legislators.
Earlier, the AIUDF central leadership imposed a six-year suspension on Abdul Aziz of Badarpur and vice-president Karim Uddin Barbhuiya, citing alleged anti-party activities.
