Guwahati: In a major breakthrough against illegal arms possession, Jorhat Police recovered a 7.65 mm pistol and arrested three accused during a night-long operation in the Mariani area of Assam's Jorhat district on Friday.

According to police sources, a specially constituted team launched the operation based on specific intelligence inputs regarding the movement and possession of illegal firearms.

After conducting extensive searches and surveillance throughout the night, the team successfully traced the suspects and recovered the weapon.

The three accused were taken into custody for questioning, while the seized pistol has been sent for further forensic examination.
