Assam: 20,000 Yaba tablets seized, four arrested in Sribhumi
Guwahati, Sept. 8 -- Assam Police have seized 20,000 Yaba tablets valued at around Rs 2 crore and arrested four people in two separate anti-narcotics operations in Sribhumi district, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
Sarma shared the information in a post on X on Monday night, September 7, commending the Sribhumi Police for the seizures.
According to the chief minister, the operations resulted in the recovery of 20,000 Yaba tablets, estimated to be worth Rs 2 crore, while four people were taken into custody.
Yaba, commonly known as "crazy medicine", is a synthetic stimulant primarily containing methamphetamine and caffeine. The drug is widely associated with illicit trafficking in parts of Northeast India.
