India, March 3 -- A hardcore cadre of the United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent) (ULFA-I) surrendered before security forces in Arunachal Pradesh's Tirap district on Tuesday.
The insurgent, identified as 31-year-old Bitul Baruah, a self-styled second lieutenant of the ULFA-I faction, laid down arms in Khonsa.
Acting on credible intelligence inputs about the presence of a hardcore ULFA-I militant in the Horu Chinghan area, the Khonsa Battalion of the Assam Rifles launched a focused operation from COB Noglo.
