Guwahati, June 29 -- Two cadres of the NSCN-K (Niki Sumi) faction surrendered before the Assam Rifles and Tirap Police during an operation in Arunachal Pradesh's Tirap district, officials said on Monday.

The two insurgents laid down their arms in the Kheti area of the district during the joint operation.

Security forces recovered arms and ammunition from their possession. However, officials did not disclose the identities of the surrendered cadres or details of the weapons seized.

Further investigation and legal formalities are underway, officials said.
