Arunachal: Over 5,200 kg of garbage removed from Yagamso River in clean-up drive
Guwahati, Aug. 8 -- A clean-up campaign in Arunachal Pradesh's Itanagar along the Yagamso River on Saturday resulted in the removal of about 5,220 kg of waste as part of an effort to curb improper disposal of garbage and protect water bodies.
The drive was conducted by the Youth Mission for Clean River (YMCR) and the Abralow Memorial Multipurpose Society, with support from the Itanagar Smart City Development Corporation Limited.
Disposable plates and glasses were the most common items found during the clean-up, with nearly 9,000 pieces removed from the river. Volunteers also recovered about 8,500 cement, rice and online-delivery bags and around 8,000 pieces of plastic waste.
