Dibrugarh, Aug. 26 -- Security forces apprehended a suspected NSCN (R) cadre from Khonsa in Arunachal Pradesh's Tirap district on Monday evening and recovered a rifle, ammunition, cash and other materials, officials said.

The apprehended cadre was identified as Tuwang Lowang, 34, alias Jeetu Saikia, a self-styled 2nd Lieutenant of the NSCN (R).

Acting on intelligence inputs, a joint team of the Tirap Police, 44 Assam Rifles and 36 Battalion CRPF conducted an operation in the 2 Mile area and adjoining parts of Khonsa town. The operation was led by Inspector Kapseng Techi, officer-in-charge of Khonsa police station.
