India, March 10 -- Security forces have apprehended a suspected insurgent belonging to the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Khango) faction from Khonsa town in Arunachal Pradesh's Tirap district.

Acting on specific intelligence inputs about the presence of an NSCN (Khango) cadre in the area, the Khonsa Battalion of the Assam Rifles, in coordination with the police, launched an operation in the Bank Colony area of Khonsa town on Sunday, an official statement said.

During the operation, the security personnel apprehended the insurgent identified as self-styled sergeant Puman Pansa.

A pistol, three live rounds of 7.65 mm ammunition and a mobile phone were recovered from his possession.
