Guwahati, Sept. 8 -- The All India Chakma Students' Union (AICSU) has welcomed the intervention of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) into an alleged incident of violence, vandalism and assault at the ADC-cum-Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) office in Bordumsa, Changlang district, Arunachal Pradesh.

The incident reportedly took place on September 4, 2026, during a hearing related to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. AICSU, the apex body representing Chakma students in India, had filed a complaint with the NHRC seeking action over the alleged incident.

According to AICSU, the NHRC has taken cognisance of the complaint under Section 12 of the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993. The Commission has dire...
