Doomdooma, July 7 -- A newly discovered species of flowering plant from the biodiverse forests of Arunachal Pradesh's Lower Dibang Valley has been named Ophiorrhiza chownai sp. nov., recognising the contributions of Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein.

The announcement was acknowledged by Mein on Monday through a post on X, where he thanked the researchers for the honour and highlighted the importance of conserving the state's rich biodiversity.
