Arunachal: IYC questions government's decision to name Naharlagun road after Syama Prasad Mookerjee
Guwahati, July 8 -- The Indian Youth Congress (IYC) has objected to the Arunachal Pradesh government's decision to name a newly built road in Naharlagun after Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee, saying public assets should honour personalities who have made significant contributions to the state rather than be used for political messaging.
In a statement released on Tuesday, IYC National General Secretary Tarh Johny criticised the BJP-led government for naming the road connecting Damsite and Model Village after the founder of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh. He maintained that infrastructure developed with public funds should reflect the history, culture and legacy of Arunachal Pradesh.
