Guwahati: As an interim relief step, the Arunachal Pradesh government has cleared the payment of monthly wages to 4,745 additional employees engaged under casual, work-related, and contingency service categories across various departments.

The decision comes after an official inquiry revealed widespread staffing beyond the sanctioned workforce limits in the state.

The probe, led by the Principal Secretary of the Public Works Department, identified 4,745 such employees, comprising 4,427 casual/contingency workers and 318 work-charged staff.

According to the findings, these appointments were made without proper approval and did not match authorised government posts.
