Doomdooma, June 28 -- An Indian Army Subedar was killed and two fellow soldiers sustained injuries after a military truck veered off a mountainous stretch of National Highway-13 and plunged into a deep gorge near Dirang in Arunachal Pradesh's West Kameng district on Friday afternoon, reports Illustrated Daily News.

The fatal accident occurred at around 2 p.m. when a truck belonging to the 18 Sikh Light Infantry was travelling towards its unit with three Army personnel on board.

According to officials, the vehicle reportedly lost control while negotiating a steep stretch of the highway before crashing through the chain-link fence of the 30th Battalion of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) campus and hurtling down the hillside.
