Guwahati: At least 21 people were killed and more than 40 others rescued after a fire broke out at a restaurant in Delhi's Malviya Nagar area on Wednesday morning.

The blaze was reported at around 8:48 am at Flourish Stay B&B, also identified locally as Lemon Green Restaurant, triggering a large-scale emergency response involving the Delhi Fire Services, police and disaster management teams.

According to Delhi Police, eight fire tenders were rushed to the spot and the fire was later brought under control.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Anant Mittal said local police personnel immediately began rescue, evacuation and relief operations after receiving information about the fire.
