India, Oct. 8 -- UNICEF has raised alarm over the escalating hostilities in northern Ethiopia, warning that children and families are facing renewed risks as reports emerge of civilian casualties and damage to homes and public facilities.
Children caught in renewed violence
UNICEF Regional Director for Eastern and Southern Africa Etleva Kadilli said the agency was aware of reports that children had been injured or killed amid the intensifying fighting. Residential areas and public infrastructure have also reportedly suffered damage.
The agency urged all parties to exercise restraint and take immediate measures to protect children and civilians from harm.
