India, Aug. 13 -- Children as young as seven are sleeping on the streets of Ceuta without adequate protection, food or supervision, as a recent surge in migrant arrivals overwhelms the Spanish enclave's child protection system, Save the Children said on August 12.
Around 2,000 Children at Risk
Organisations working on the ground estimate that around 2,000 children and adolescents are currently outside the protection system, although the exact number remains unknown. Some children are reportedly sleeping outdoors, hiding or staying in locations where their safety cannot be guaranteed.
