India, Sept. 29 -- Motasim's journey in humanitarian mine action began after a landmine killed several members of his extended family in Sudan in 2004, an experience that later led him to a career clearing explosive hazards.
From tragedy to mine action
Before entering the sector, Motasim worked various jobs, including selling goods and construction work. In 2006, while living in Kadugli, he attended an awareness session organised by FPDO in collaboration with FSD. The session introduced him to mine action and prompted him to apply for training.
