India, Sept. 7 -- The European Court of Human Rights has removed 879 applications against Russia from its docket, prompting Amnesty International to warn that hundreds of victims could be denied a final opportunity to seek truth, justice and reparation.
Court cites legal and resource constraints
The applications, announced by the ECtHR on September 3, 2026, were the oldest pending cases, with some dating back to 2007. The Court said the complaints did not raise issues of marked importance concerning Russia's responsibility under the European Convention on Human Rights or require further development of its case law.
