India, Sept. 2 -- Oxfam has urged European Union governments to move ahead with measures against trade with Israeli settlements as EU foreign ministers gather for an informal meeting in Wicklow, Ireland, on September 1 and 2.

Oxfam Calls for Immediate Action

Jim Clarken, Oxfam Ireland CEO, said EU governments should not delay action while settlement expansion and violence against Palestinians continue in the occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem. He argued that international law should not be influenced by Israel's electoral timetable or the outcome of future peace talks.
