India, Aug. 31 -- Oxfam has launched an emergency response in Nepal's worst-hit Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts after a devastating flash flood destroyed roads, swept away bridges and left communities cut off from relief efforts.
Flood disaster leaves trail of destruction
The disaster struck on August 26 after a landslide and glacial event about 20 kilometres north of the Rasuwagadhi checkpoint blocked the Lhende Khola, triggering a powerful flash flood. The surge moved through Timure, Syaprubesi and Bhairabkunda before entering the Trishuli River.
According to Oxfam, at least 200 people have been killed and hundreds remain missing across Nepal and Tibet. Communities in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha and Chitwan were affected as floodwate...
