India, July 17 -- More than 500 Rohingya refugees are feared dead after two vessels capsized in the monsoon battered waters off the Myanmar coast during late June and early July.

The victims were predominantly fleeing worsening humanitarian conditions and escalating conflict in Rakhine State, with some individuals traveling from refugee camps in Bangladesh.
