India, July 27 -- One month after powerful earthquakes struck northern Venezuela, thousands of survivors remain displaced as humanitarian agencies warn that urgent medical, mental health and shelter needs continue to outpace available support.
Displacement deepens humanitarian crisis
The earthquakes that hit on June 24 left widespread destruction across La Guaira and parts of Caracas, forcing thousands of families from their homes. According to official figures, 5,398 people have died, 16,740 were injured and 17,907 remain displaced, while rescue teams have pulled 6,462 people from the rubble.
