India, Aug. 10 -- A New Mexico judge has ordered Meta to pay $567 million and make changes to Instagram and Facebook after finding that the platforms harmed children's mental health, in a ruling Amnesty International has described as an important step toward stronger protections for young users.

Judge Bryan Biedscheid ordered Meta to modify features on Instagram and Facebook alongside the financial penalty.
