India, Aug. 31 -- Students have been separated from their families and entire communities remain isolated after a glacial landslide triggered devastating flash floods in northern Nepal and areas along the Chinese border, Plan International said on August 28. The disaster has severely damaged roads, bridges and other infrastructure, leaving rescue teams struggling to reach affected settlements.
Hundreds Dead, Thousands Missing
More than 450 people had been confirmed dead, while around 1,000 remained missing as search and rescue operations expanded into previously inaccessible areas. More than 500 people had been rescued, but damaged bridges and roads continued to obstruct efforts to reach isolated communities.
