India, Sept. 1 -- Children sheltering in crowded public facilities in Nepal are facing growing health risks as contaminated water, stagnant pools and poor sanitation compound the aftermath of devastating flash floods, Save the Children said on August 31.
Contaminated Water Raises Health Concerns
In Nuwakot and Rasuwa districts, several water sources have been polluted by flood debris, leaving displaced families struggling to find safe water for drinking and washing. Decaying human and animal remains, unmanaged waste and stagnant water are adding to the threat of diarrhoea and skin infections.
